Dockum Christmas Decorations
In 1926, Dockum Drugstore leased the ground floor of the new Union National Bank building at the corner of Broadway and Douglas Avenues. Christmas decorations are visible in this circa 1955 photograph.
Dockum’s lunch counter
Located between the store’s two entrances, Dockum’s lunch counter at Broadway and Douglas Avenues was remodeled in 1952 to increase productivity and boost profits. A sign above the counter states, “You are always welcome at Dockum’s.”
Crest Theater
Moviegoers wait in line outside the Crest Theater at 4825 East Douglas Avenue to see Elvis Presley’s Loving You, released in 1957. The theater opened in 1950 across the street from Lincoln Heights Village and was demolished in 1997 after being shuttered for nearly a decade.
